I have always liked being a student. I certainly loved being in college. After I received a bachelor’s degree in both English and theater in the usual four-year span, I returned for an extra semester not only to earn a certificate to teach but also because I wasn’t ready to leave college. I enjoyed being a student teacher and when I finished my certification, I accepted a job teaching in a high school twenty-five miles from the Arkansas college town where I lived so that I still had one foot in college and the other in the real world.
