Dancing Cheek to Cheek

My father made sure we held hands.
I was loving the white pointillist man alive
in his yellow-socket TV, letting us walk.
He was a chalk outline for an almost death,
like a phantom frozen in his own glad headlights,
each pale dot of the body like stubble
I felt when my father kissed me.
