We caught up with Alice Hoffman on the eve of the publication of her new novel, The Invisible Hour.
1. Who is your favorite character in fiction; your fave character in life?
My favorite character in fiction is the very difficult, very complicated Heathcliff.
2. A line (that you or someone else wrote) that continues to inspire you?
A single dream is more powerful than a thousand realities. —Nathaniel Hawthorne
3. The story, book, or poem you wish you could read again for the first time? What did it teach you?
I’d like to read everything by Ray Bradbury as if it was the first time. I think every student at the age of twelve or thirteen should read of all of Bradbury’s works, which are so instructive about how to be a human in this very challenging world.
