When the countdown started, we were joyous. It was the beginning not only of a new year but a new decade. We were hopeful. Prayerful.
Never mind that there were the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) protests in Delhi, or that students were beaten and harassed at JNU and other universities. It would get better, or so we thought.
