This is a touching piece with great heart. Thank you for the beauty.

As a reader with no firsthand knowledge of the wellspring for this poem, I'm struck by its sense of fatalism. It's sad, with the demonstration of the capacity for endurance. Every piece of imagery is freighted by that which isn't said. Masterful.
