Very powerful! The diction and the structure march us forward in a simple telling that ends with a punch in the gut.

Kept looking for more, but it was already all there. The narrative's reportage does sting more at the close by switching to first person.

I agree. This is powerfully written. The impact of being willing to go to Nam and then what he saw at the bowling alley did hit hard. Definitely a "thumbs up" for this author.

This is one great poem. C. D. Wright forces the reader to feel what the retired welding teacher experienced––and still feels.

This poem was written beautifully. The words were selected with great care and the imagery was so perceptible.
