It's an unusual feeling to read about characters who inhabit places I know quite well. The restaurant owner who serves coffee and keeps the peace, the D-8 operator who waives you by on the logging road, the high school student with the interesting name--they all have stories we would never imagine, unless told in "Listening to Angels." Reads like a good novel.
Time evaporated while reading this story. I could not not go on. Dialogue, characters, setting--a master's work. Thank you, Mr. Kittredge.
