Sharp and hazy simultaneously. Very lovely.

Really a short story; with a single as well as a compact idea it's built. Nice representation.

Now your girlfriend doesn't have to stand among the bridesmaids, pretending to be just your friend. But then again, perhaps the pressure to look like what your mother had hoped is too great . . . it is for Annie. And so we await the snake's return.

This just worked for me, on myriad levels. The prose is modern yet evocative, the narratives familiar yet profound. A wonderful story.

This short short story is a marvelous example of how much a writer can portray in such a small space. I've often thought that short short stories are under-appreciated. Yours is a good representation of the genre and is filled with haunting and mysterious ideas.

I love this short story. I printed it off and keep it on my nightstand so I'm reminded of the type of writer I aspire to be. A writer who weighs the significance of each word. The first sentence draws me in and I'm rewarded with every following. The narrator sounds jaded: yet, continues to learn. Thank you, Katie, for giving us this beautiful gift.
