I know of Robert's work and I greatly admire him. I love how he leads the reader to absorb the time, the place, the characters in such rapid and yet barely visible strokes. This is writing without the appearance of writing. The encounter with Millicent is a joy to read. Not least for the surprise it contains, but also for the passion perceptible in the character's voice, that of Christopher. This love of life brings love to the character in return. And once we are attached, there is no letting go. I will read the rest after I buy the book. Thank you, Robert.
