Sharp and poignant.
The writing is accomplished and witty.

The story reminds me of being co-opted to a village committee while living in Somerset UK, where I 'nearly' managed to save a mature oakwood from being clear-felled. The process was similarly hilarious.

Glad rural Somerset is instantly recognizable. It has a unique kind of primitive innocence with the simple brutality innocence brings with it!
