The ending was quite perversely poetic. Oh gosh when the revolver was presented I still could not foresee the deaths that needed to occur for the babies. Written simply and just lovely with a teardrop of a morbid reality for this Earth.

Vonnegut Jr. does it again! He just as a way of putting this planet's issues into a clear cut narrative that makes the reader question everything . . . All of his writings were so ahead of his time!

This the first short story I have read on Narrative... and I must say it was quite an adventure!... the author's witty way of laying down the economic concern of rising population was really good!

I admire the taut plot and mordant humor of this piece, a perfect riposte to post-war hedonism. A "perfect world", where all threats to survival have been terminated, except for the human desire to procreate. The painter is the foil for exposing the hidden motivations of the other characters, as one-by-one, each steps out of the paradigm of homogeneity to express his or her individuality, which leads inexorably to conflict,—a violent conflict—and a touch of irony to the denouement.
