I feel as though I knew every one of his dogs. Surely they belonged to me at one time, or I to them, although they may have simply blended in with all the dogs I've had. My current life-partner dog showed up at my gate wounded from abuse, but offering his solace on the death of my black lab. So we consoled each other. We saved each other. There's nothing better. He brings me such joy. To all dogs!
