This story really touched me. In a time when empathy seems in short supply, it reminded me of how kind people can be to one another when they understand each other.

Wonderful short story.

I enjoyed your story.

"Shiny Objects" is a beautiful story, so well done, reminiscent and evocative. I was touched by all the details of the small grocery store, the sawdust, the in prices stamped on the cans and the old packaging for the aluminum foil. I loved the allowances the family made for this broken individual who was beyond repair. You’re heartbreaking ending will stay with me for a long time. Thank you.

Enjoyed reading your story. Sensitive, kind solution to human frailty.

When we are young we can't see what happened just before we were born. It's much later that we put things into perspective and are able to appreciate the what our parents lived through, that might colour their values. This story so beautifully illustrates a slow dawning that things aren't black and white, good and evil. We see the young boy grapple to understand what is going on. Sensitive, insightful story. Thank you

This is a marvelous, touching piece that kept me engaged with every word. Thank you.
