I loved this essay by Bill Barich. I also visited Florence in my youth and I wonder what it would look like today: full of Chinese or Japanese tourists? His description of the art museums and galleries is splendid. I would like to go back now, and see them all with the different perspectives that years imprint on you.

An evocative story from a man who obviously loves that great city. I particularly enjoyed the final scene in the restaurant, having experienced the same hospitality in a local trattoria on many occasions.
