I enjoyed the story very much. It is rich in detail and provides a lot of information through description. I want to read it through many times.
The story made me want to read more, about the family, the circumstances, the era in which they lived. It was an excellent story about conditions of the working class in New York at the time.
Thank you for a great experience. I would like to read more of your work.
This is a wonderful story indeed. An elderly friend of mine once told me how her mother escaped from such a fire in New York's garment district. You take us back to a very authentic time and place, and reveal thoroughly realized character.
Word perfect. I have been a fan of Steve Stern's writing for at least a couple of decades, and he always manages to achieve something akin to natural magic. This story brings the Triangle tragedy to life so vividly that it's almost frightening, especially given the brevity of the writing. Thanks, Steve, as always . . .
Powerful writing, powerful story. You've done justice to the horror of that terrible incident. Bravo.

Wow. Wonderful story with strong metaphoric writing. It carried me away and I'm reading it again. Many thanks Steve Stern.
This story is everything a great story should be and it wrings the reader's emotions without being the least bit sentimental.

What a wonderful story. I love the language—visual, evocative, and gripping. An inspiration to struggling writers everywhere. Bravo!
