The poem shows how a person fights against depression every minute of every day. The conversation with the self seems simple, but it's not. I write this response as I sit on my own couch, not wanting to get dressed today.

I disagree with you, Linda, and your comment that it is a fight against depression. It is all about how you interpret the author's description and ambivalence about wearing a shirt. The shirt could be a metaphor for depression, as it could be just his comment or critique on materialism and his hate of wearing clothes. It is fine if you see it that way, I personally try not to pigeon-hole a poem into a specific meaning, as I think some of the beauty of poetry is that it can be full of complex meanings, or an attempt at no meaning at all.
Such a true and quirky poem. Many thanks.
