Oh, how I love the mind of this woman! Clifton has been a favorite poet of mine for years, and these poems - as with many of the others - are so good you want to eat them.

The world is a lesser place without Lucille Clifton--we poets owe her a great debt for her example as one who fearlessly spoke her own truth with humor and dignity.
Oh, how marvelous. Lucille Clifton's words roar at times, and others they hit you where your emotional footprint lingers. She's a gem, and I would be lost without her light. Thank you, Lucille Clifton.
