Being an immigrant in America, I can empathize with the story, the anxieties inbuilt. I loved the ending too, which did not deal with the outcome, but focused on Rita and her man.

An absorbing story. Especially the turning point when Rita loses her composure in the office--very interesting and psychologically true. Bausch is a master storyteller.

This story is intensely human and right on the mark. Richard Bausch's stories always go right to the heart. Having been married fifty-five years, I can attest to the truthfulness of the marital relationship portrayed here.
