Crossing the Island

Marvelous piece. In this poem the speaker is the island, alone within his life. At the same time, he is also the one crossing to a new place while the world blazes up around him and calls him forward. There is both a spiritual and physical intensity in the poem located “in the place/where the gods descend to this world and enter . . .”

A magnificent poem that tells a story, fills you with breathtaking imagery, and leaves you savoring every word.
