A Work in Progress

An interesting story that provides insight into a character's itinerary to the southern hemisphere (a culture and setting we don't get to visit much in fiction).

Curiosity and Narrative's reputation for selecting quality work propelled me to click through to Baird's "The Mines at Potosí, Bolivia." There, I found more original figures of speech and a narrative immediately conjuring Leslie Jamison's "The Moon Sweats Silver and We Carry It on our Backs," a story that is valuable if one cares at all for fiction set in South America.

An intriguing excerpt. I love the "voice."
