Amazing story. "The Palace of the People" is well written and captivating. I didn't expect the ending, though I can see it was predictable after the fact. Marra's writing somehow makes me strong.
Great take on the inter-generational differences between formerly Soviet parents and their non-Soviet offspring, all wrapped into an engaging story. There's a great book about the last Soviet generation called Everything Was Forever Until It Was No More: The Last Soviet Generation.

Extremely engaging read. Marra has a great style--convincing, amusing, and horrifying at once.
Wow.

A masterful story: pitch-perfect voice, great characters, terrifying choices, great ending.
