Catherine Abbey Hodges, a finalist in Narrative’s Eleventh Annual Poetry Contest, is the author of Instead of Sadness, winner of the 2015 Barry Spacks Poetry Prize; Raft of Days; and In a Rind of Light (Stephen F. Austin State University Press, 2020). She teaches English at Porterville College in California’s San Joaquin Valley.
