David Abrams was raised in Wyoming and received a BA from the University of Oregon and an MFA in creative writing from the University of Alaska. After working as a reporter for Montana newspapers he enlisted in the army, where he was named top military journalist in the Department of Defense in 1988. A finalist in Narrative’s Fall 2009 Story Contest, he lives in Butte, Montana, with his wife.
