Douglas Light was born in Indiana and moved to Manhattan in 1995. His debut novel, East Fifth Bliss, received the 2007 Benjamin Franklin Award for Fiction, as well as Foreword magazine’s Book of the Year Award for general fiction. His stories have appeared in numerous literary journals, and he is the recipient of an O. Henry Award for fiction. Light has a story included in the 2003 Best American Nonrequired Reading anthology.
