Douglas Silver was born on Long Island and earned a BA in writing and literature at Columbia University. He served as a writer in residence at the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos, New Mexico, and was a finalist in the 2011 Narrative 30 Below Contest. He lives in New York City.
