Edmund White is a novelist, essayist, and critic and the author of several acclaimed works dealing with the gay experience, including, The Joy of Gay Sex. His novel The Married Man draws on his own life, and he has also written the autobiography My Lives and a memoir about life in 1960s and 1970s New York City, City Boy. His several other novels include Our Young Man and A Saint from Texas (Bloomsbury, 2020). His play Terra Haute, produced in New York City in 2009, imagines a meeting between Gore Vidal and the Timothy McVeigh. The recipient of many awards and distinctions, White is a professor of creative writing at Princeton University.
