Elea Carey was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. A graduate of the Creative Writing Program at San Francisco State University, she received her MFA at the Rainier Writing Workshop at Pacific Lutheran University. Her many skills include announcing for a Puerto Rican radio station and counseling in the military corrections system. Carey lives in rural Washington with her husband and their two children.
