Elizabeth de la Portilla is the author of several academic works focusing on ethnicity and culture, including They All Want Magic: Curanderas and Folk Healing. She earned a PhD in anthropology from the University of Michigan and teaches at San Antonio College. A Tejana by birth, she lives in San Antonio.
