Gail Steiger not only produced and directed the documentary Ranch Album, but he also wrote and performed its original music. Released as a national PBS special, the film received a CINE Golden Eagle Award and was included in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts/UCLA Film and Television Archive Series of Outstanding Documentaries. Gail sings songs and tells stories at cowboy poetry gatherings around the Southwest and has released two CDs, The Romance of Western Life and Matter of Believin’. Since 1995 he has been the foreman of the Spider Ranch in Yavapai County, Arizona.
Lew Steiger was the sound recorder for Ranch Album and contributed in postproduction to a chronological structure for the film’s storytelling. He has been rowing dories in the Grand Canyon since 1987.
