Jo Ann Beard is the author of Festival Days (2021) as well as the groundbreaking collection of autobiographical essays The Boys of My Youth and the novel In Zanesville. Her work has appeared in the Best American Essays, and she is the recipient of a Whiting Foundation Award. She teaches writing at Sarah Lawrence College in New York.
