Julian Gewirtz is the author of the poetry collection Your Face My Flag (Copper Canyon Press, 2022), and his poems have appeared in Best American Poetry and Best New Poets. He has also published books on the history of modern China, including Never Turn Back: China and the Forbidden History of the 1980s (Harvard University Press, 2022) and Unlikely Partners. A former Academy Scholar at Harvard’s Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, Gewirtz has also been a lecturer in history at Columbia University and at Harvard.
