Lan Samantha Chang is the author of two novels, Inheritance and All Is Forgotten, Nothing Is Lost (2010), as well as a collection, Hunger: A Novella and Stories. Born in Appleton, Wisconsin, to parents who survived the Japanese occupation of China, she received an MFA from the University of Iowa, an MPA from Harvard, and a BA from Yale University. Chang is a professor of English at the University of Iowa and is the first woman to serve as director of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
