Lorine Niedecker

Lorine Niedecker (1903–1970) lived in rural Wisconsin, a region that influenced the vivid imagery and spare language of her poetry. The only woman associated with the Objectivist poets, she wrote in seclusion—those closest to her were unaware of her work. Her numerous collections include New Goose; Blue Chicory; The Granite Pail; and Harpsichord and Salt Fish. Although several of her later books received critical attention, it was only after her death that she was identified as a singular voice in American poetry.
