Mary Lawton is a cartoonist, illustrator, and painter known for her offbeat cartoons and unique oil portraits. Born on Long Island, she was educated at the School of Visual Arts in New York and at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. Since 1985 her cartoons have appeared in many magazines, newspapers, books, and greeting cards. Lawton lives with her husband and two boys in Houston and Tarpley, Texas.
