Michael Sears, a finalist in the 2016 Narrative 30 Below Contest, earned an MFA from the University of Virginia, where his story “You Are Merely Part of This” received the Balch and Henfield Prizes. Born in Cleveland, he graduated with a BA from DePauw University in Indiana.
