Patrick Kavanagh

Patrick Kavanagh (1904–1967), born in Inniskeen, Ireland, was a poet and an author of fiction and autobiography as well. His several poetry collections, known for their response to life on the intuitive rather than the intellectual level, include Come Dance with Kitty Stobling; A Soul for Sale; and Ploughman and Other Poems. He spent the lean years of the war in Dublin, and afterward wrote the novel Tarry Flynn. Kavanagh died in 1967 and is buried in his native Inniskeen.
