Renée Thompson, winner of Narrative’s 2023 Fall Story Contest, was born in Washington and raised in Japan. The author of two novels, The Bridge at Valentine and The Plume Hunter, she attended California State University at Sacramento, majoring in environmental resources. Thompson has traversed the United States, settling on or near wildlife refuges in Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Texas, Virginia, and Georgia. She lives in Folsom, California.
