Saïd Sayrafiezadeh is the author of the story collections American Estrangement (Norton, 2021) and Brief Encounters with the Enemy, as well as the memoir When Skateboards Will Be Free, for which he won the Whiting Award for Nonfiction. In addition, his work appears in Best American Short Stories and New American Stories. Sayrafiezadeh serves on the board of the New York Foundation for the Arts and teaches creative writing at Columbia University, Hunter College, and New York University. He lives in New York City with his wife.
