Samantha Peale is the author of the novel The American Painter Emma Dial, adapted for HBO by Philip Seymour Hoffman and Emily Ziff. She grew up in New Jersey and graduated from the New School and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Peale lives in Los Angeles.
