Sivani Babu is a journalist and nature photographer. Her story “Ice Bear,” about searching for polar bears in the Arctic, was recognized by the Best American Travel Writing series, and her photography has been exhibited around the world. She grew up in Orcutt, California, and holds an AB from the University of Chicago and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. A former teacher of middle-school math, she has also served as a federal public defender in South Texas. She lives in Santa Barbara, California.
