Spencer Wise is the author of the debut novel The Emperor of Shoes. Born in Boston, he earned his PhD from Florida State University. He won second place in Narrative’s 2012 Fall Story Contest and is the recipient of the Gulf Coast Prize in nonfiction. Wise is an assistant professor at Augusta University in Georgia.
