Wayne Harrison was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and grew up in various towns inland and on Long Island Sound. He entered the University of New Haven as a criminal justice major, working summers as a corrections officer, before changing to an English major. Harrison received his MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and moved to Oregon, where he lives with his wife and two daughters. He teaches at Oregon State University.
