Wesley Brown is a novelist, playwright, and scholar. He is the author of two novels, Tragic Magic and Darktown Strutters, and three plays and is the coeditor of the short fiction anthology Imagining America as well as the nonfiction anthology Visions of America: Personal Narratives from the Promised Land. “Women from Mars” is part of a collection of stories about characters caught up in the big band era of the 1930s and their encounters with the great musicians at the forefront of modern jazz in the 1940s.
