Welcome to a Virtual Poetry Reading celebrating the winning work of our Eighth Annual High School Writing Contest, which asked students to respond to the prompt True or False? Below you’ll find a video featuring our brilliant winners and finalists reading their poems, but before watching, let’s dwell for a moment on just how much our High School Contest has grown:
Contributing teachers and students in the Narrative contest now cover the world. To date, we’ve received submissions from thirty-six countries, including Ghana, Malaysia, Nepal, China, Nigeria, Taiwan, South Africa, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Within the United States, we’ve received poems from students in forty-nine states—a virtual world of young poets! In all, our Narrative for Schools programs now reach more than 120,000 students and teachers in schools worldwide.
We are overjoyed by the expanding reach of our contest and our Schools programs and look forward to hearing from even more classrooms in the years ahead. But for now, settle in with us and celebrate the voices of a new generation of young writers:
