Narrative Magazine, a 501(c)3 charity founded in 2003 and based in San Francisco, was the first and remains the foremost online publisher of quality literature.
Narrative provides fiction, poetry, nonfiction, cartoons, and graphic and photographic stories for free to any and all readers with an Internet connection or a wireless reading device.
Authors published in Narrative routinely receive top honors, including the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, the Best American Short Story Award, and many others. Narrative was recently named “the gold standard of online literary magazines.”
Narrative is syndicated electronically to college and university libraries throughout North America and is included in the syllabi in universities and high schools around the world. Now in its ninth year, Narrative has an audience of 125,000 dedicated readers, and records 1,500,000 page views each month, with a current annual growth rate of 300 percent.
Every dollar raised for Narrative goes to support writers and artists and to encourage reading across generations and around the globe.

Our fourth annual Narrative Night in San Francisco will honor renowned author Abraham Verghese (Cutting for Stone) and will feature bestselling author Melanie Gideon and poet Matthew Dickman. Narrative cofounders and editors Carol Edgarian and Tom Jenks will emcee the evening.
Narrative Night begins with cocktails and abundant bites for patrons at a private home in Pacific Heights, with a panoramic view overlooking the Bay, and continues with Readings, Wine, and Dessert at the Cowell Theater in Herbst Pavilion at Fort Mason. The event will be a celebratory, festive evening with great goodwill and entertainment. Proceeds from the night will go to Narrative’s programs to enhance reading and writing in schools and across the globe.
