Akosua Afiriyie-Hwedie, a Zambian-Ghanaian poet who grew up in Botswana, was a finalist in Narrative’s Twelfth Annual Poetry Contest. She is the author of the chapbook Born in a Second Language (Button Poetry, 2021) and holds an MFA in poetry from the University of Michigan. She lives in Ann Arbor.
